Our mission

CAUSE (California Arts University Student Ensemble) is a student-centered music ensemble dedicated to serving the community through musical experiences grounded in regular practice and performance. We believe music is more than an artistic skill. Music is used not only as an artistic skill, but as a practical framework through which students practice service, teamwork, and responsibility. Through this process, students learn how to connect generations, build community, and support the development of young leaders.

Our goal is to build a sustainable Community Music Outreach model centered around CAUSE. Through consistent rehearsals, outreach performances, and community engagement, students apply what they learn in rehearsal to hands-on experiences. CAUSE provides elementary through high school students with structured opportunities to volunteer and develop leadership skills, while sharing music that offers comfort, encouragement, and companionship to seniors and members of the local community.

Over time, student musicians grow into individuals who understand how their talents can be shared beyond the stage by using music to provide care, strengthen collaboration, and deepen understanding across generations.
